Need 2 Format disk in drive F???

    I have an Iomega 500GB Portable HD, i am running windows vista premium. My problem is that a couple of days ago when i plugged the HD in my laptop one of my folders (which happens to have all my tv shows in it) says: You need format the disk in Drive F: before you can use it. Do you want to format the disk? I was thinking that maybe i have a couple bad sectors but i'm not sure. If someone can shed some light on my situation it'll be great.
