Need a Diagnosis

Okay so here's my little problem, I formatted my pc for running too slowly, and it still is. It seems to "start-up" programs at a descent speed, but it is slow to run them. even downloads are going at a slower rate.

also my pc has done 3-4 physical memory dumps (but only during 'windows update' automated restarts)

also my motherboard will beep at me from time to time. (only 1 beep, sometimes at start up, and other times at the pinnacle of its slow performance) if im not mistaken thats something to do with a hardware error of some kind.

and for those who need to know my system specs to see if i need an upgrade here ya go.

Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition
amd athon 64 x2 3.0 ghz.
asus a2mn32 sli-deluxe
2gb corsair ddr2 pc 6400 800 mhz
antec 600w power supply
nvidia geforce 7600 gt
audigy x-fi extreme gamer
seagate sata-300mbps 500gb hd.

there is no custom biosing, overclocking, or anything else except for boot priority.

 

oh also my firefox has hard faults ranging from 5 to 400+ a minute.

 

I think you should attempt to follow the instructions found here to figure out what is causing the issues during Windows Update. If you don't have high speed internet, then zip the .dmp files, attach them to a post here, and someone will help out.

But with all of the speed and crashing issues, I think it would be one of a few choices: driver issue, underpowered power supply, bad/dying hard drive, or bad/dying RAM.

Check the memory dumps and see what you find, either report back with what file is causing the issue and what stop code is generated, or google those two things and see what's going on, and what is the recommended course of action.
