I'm wantin to make a copy of one of my Music Cd's that is gettin Very scratched up from my 2$ cd player. I just got Nero Burning rom with my Cd-r the other day but dont really know how to use it. It would be allot easier to just rip the files from the Cd then burn then from the ripped folder. If you have any suggestions let me know, I hope this isnt a "Out of line topic" for MG's, but if it is feel free to delete this thread with Xtreme predjudus (lol, Im a good speller huh?).

In Nero, choose File, CD Copy.

    Pretty easy :)

As for ripping them , if you feel you must, I will let others answer as I am not familiar with that area.

Hmmm...I used to have a plethora of info on this subject, however since I've found what I like, I've just stuck with them.

There's ACXtractor (shareware). With it, you need to get your own codecs as they're not included in the installer. BLADE , LAME , and GOGO are supported by it. I prefer GOGO, though (it's based on LAME, but is faster).

Then there's CDex (freeware). It comes with LAME which is good if that's your codec of choice, or if you don't feel like scouring for the most recent versions of others. ;)

All in all, CDex is better than ACXtractor because:

    A) it's freeware
    B) it's freeware
    and
    C) it's freeware

    :)

[edit: oh yeah, something else that's important. Both have CDDB support so you don't have to go through and label all the songs before you rip them]

Yeah, Mistic, I 've been using CDex for a while now, and find it to be the best of the lot that I tried out. It was a bit cranky to get to work right after the download, I recall--some driver or DLL issue. (Coulda been me!) But once up and going it's very configurable and does about all that needs to be done.

Thanks for the heads up on FreeRip and GOGO, Gold and Gott.
I'm going to check these ideas out.

  8. I agree with zznerd,
I tried using windows media player, but it only rips in windows media files, not mp3 format. Realoneplayer can rip in mp3 format but below 128kbps(cd quality)if you want better sound, you need the pay version, which is realoneplayer plus. Cdex is a good pic , caus you can chose the quality you want, and its totaly free. On the plus side, its not difficult to use. :D
