need a little help with unknow hardware

i am useing a compaq deskpro EN sff series its a 500mhz 64mb ram running windows 98SE and when i had to format i loaded all the drivers but there is one that is unknow dont know what it is i have been trying to find out what it is to get a driver for it does anyone know how to find out what it is i dont have any info about or what it is any help would be nice

im not sure of the way the device manager works in 98 but you might try right clicking "My Computer"(the icon at the very top of the list in the left hand box) in the device manager and clicking scan for hardware changes

i had a similar problem rescently and I found the problem to delete all the devices in the catagory in which the device was ...this was the link http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=43406 ... I hope you find it helpful ... keep in mind that hacking the registry can do serious damage to your computer and even I would be very hesitant before I changed or deleted anything in there ... the only real difference between mine and yours would the OS and the fact I knew what device my computer thought it was

 

i tryed that software but still nothing and that software made my computer crash i tryed to delete it and have it look agin but it stilled showed up as unknown hardware. so i though i would bump this post and see if anyone eles know what to do and i tryed what the last post said thxs for your post but still nothing so anyone eles can help me please anwser

IMO ... the registry is telling windows there is a device that is not really there ... the only way to get rid of it is by hacking the registry

 

i dont like hacking the registry because i could cause more probles thin there allready is but i will try where will i be able to find the key for it
