Need a new fan for Toshiba laptop..

..wondering if this might work until I can get something ordered or even longer. Anyone use one for any length of time? I understand it's a quick fix but it's what I need if I can get one. Please see attachment, thanks much, denise

 

I would shy away from USB powered fans. The USB port has little power to spare and the fan will be weak.
I would try cleaning the laptop with canned air first. Your fan should be available in a couple of days from most online retailers and that is your best bet. Also be sure the fan is not blocked (most laptops cannot be set on your lap).

Ok, no it wasn't blocked, could need to be cleaned but have a guy going to look at it, and replace the fan if needed for 70 dollars total (part and labor). Does that sound fair to you? I hope so. Cost me 3 or 400 to replace with new laptop, maybe more. Thank you for the info, denise

I am certain it's the fan, although, I could be wrong. Dale will check it though. He was recommended by a guy at Staples. Seems like an honest guy. My sis and I really need someone here in the area we can get help from, so we'll see how this turns out.

I honestly gave it a shot, following a tute from youtube on just cleaning the fan etc. I managed to get the screws out, as carefully as possible, then proceeded to lose 2 or 3 right off the bat. That was it, I knew this part needed someone with way more knowledge then myself I mean if I can't keep some simple screws together, heaven knows what I might "screw up" when I get inside, LOL!
