Let's say I have a folder called "MyStuff" on drive C: and another copy of it on an external drive (drive F: for example). Lets say sometimes I put new files in the folder on C:, sometimes I put new files in the folder on F:. What I need is a util that will check the folders, and point out which files they have in common, and which files are in one folder and not the other, and/or vice-versa. Or a util that will generate a text file listing the files in each folder so I can print 'em out and compare 'em. I could just open each folder side by side on the desktop, but there's like 150+ files and folders in each "MyStuff" folder making a side by side comparison a bit tough. I'd rather be able to print a list of each folder's contents so I can compare 'em and move files/folders as needed.... Any ideas, suggestions, or links will be appreciated! THANX!

    You're welcome. :)
I'll be interested in your search.
I've been thinking of something to do the same myself but it has been on the backburner for a while now. Bazza

Well, here's some utils I found at SnapFiles... I was looking for freeware (I should have mentioned that in my original post) so the first two links are out; Thanx anyway....

    And of course; Free Commander:

Free Commander is almost identical to Total Commander; a file/folder/directory management utility... I should've pulled my head out for second and used it from the start :banghead So- there's some links, I'm going to use each one and see how they work, and I'll probably post my results if anyone gives a :crap

Thanks hd2k, I'll certainly be interested. :cool
I want to clean up all the programs I have scattered across various USB memory sticks, delete all the duplicates I find, and then compile them all onto 1 USB stick. Bazza

That's exactly what I'm doing :D It's been a time consuming process... I have 2 external HD's (a 60gb and an 80gb) that are 98% full with similar files, and many, many duplicates... and there's also my PC which has a mix of files from both drives... :banghead I gotta get this straightened out and keep track of what the f*** I'm doing in the future ;)

It's all too easy to duplicate stuff, and too damn hard to remove them., so we put it off. :major:D;):) Bazza

I'm very interested in your feedback as well (although I dread the thought of sorting out my own junk). I'll post any feedback if try these before you but a program like this is something I'm considering buy buying too.
