Need advice before posting malware forum

I'm working on a friends PC that has issues. I have been able to remove a lot of malware but there is still more that I need help with. The big thing I think is that the PC's OS is XP Pro Service pack 1 <-- not a typo. It will get on the net but I can't get to Major geeks, MS. I'm down loading to a flash drive to run progams. It won't let me run Hitman Pro, Tsskiller or rogue killer.

Is it important to have the latest updates?

Or just post what reports I can?

The inability to reach sites where help can be had, the inability to launch some anti-malware apps is a sign of a serious infection, some malware is written to cause those exact problems.

As suggested by LauraR, the Malware Forum is where you should be...

 

Hey, Thanks. His PC was and still is bad shape. It had the blue screen of death at start up. I was just unsure about the service pack. I'm going to head over to malware forums.
