I have two 512 sticks of dual channel ddr3200. I have a ddr2700 512 stick and a ddr2700 256 stick laying around, and was looking to improve my systems performance. I know adding the 2700 sticks will drop the 3200's speed, and dual channel mode wont work anymore.

Would i get better gaming performance with the 1.7 Gigs of ram, or should i stick with the 1 gig of dual channel 3200?

768 more ram vs dual channel and clockspeed

id stick with the 1 gig 3200, for the moment you wont see THAT much of a difference from using that extra ram. And yes, the dual channel is a plus too

Would also like to add that i play some pretty system intense games, such as battlefield 2 and Elder Scrolls 4 : Oblivion.

if you have the time and its that big of a deal to you, experiment on different combinations of the ram until you find what works the best

LOL, and as you slowly sink towards the abyss after many not only does it seem faster but it can also talk to you and do many strange things.
