I downloaded SopCast.zip (which has a setup exe) from http://www.sopcast.org/download. But before I installed this, I uploaded the zip at jotti to check for any virus or malware.

Jotti uses many scanners and one of them "a-squared" detected Adware.Win32.Admedia.b in the zip. All the 10+ other scanners did not. So just to be sure I downloaded free a2cmd version and ran it against the zip on my machine. It also detected and reported the same.

What should I do? Is it safe to install SopCast or am I taking undue risk?

    Please help and advice.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You should be okay as long as you downloaded it directly from SopCast. A-squared is more than likely just detecting things in the program that are often considered questionable (like P2P).
