I'm looking at PC that has a 30gb HD and it's 99.5% full. Upon poking around and looking thru My Documents, Program Files, etc... I don't see what's taking up so much space. There's about 20gb of space being eaten up by something; I need a util that will scan the HD and report what folders are where, the sizes, date of last access if possible, etc.... I tried AssessTree real quick, but I wasn't real happy with it; maybe I didn't know what I was looking at or how to set it up.... So, any links or app suggestions will be appreciated! THANX again MG!

I use Jam Treesize Personal, but it doesn't sem you can get it free anymore. Here is their freeware version. I don't know if it will be as good as the Personal version.

You can download the Pro version but I don't know the length of the trial if there is one. My Personal version only makes my vist the site to use and it is a great program so worth the detour.

What's your setting for Virtual memory? Windows adds that when calculating used HD space.

Also, you might download CCleaner and run it to clean some junk from your HD and free up some space.

These are two old programs I still use on occasion. Couldn't locate Find Junk Files download @MG.com today, Google says MG page no longer exists.
Found and deleted a 1 GB .txt file created by an Internet Security Suite a few days back, AOL ISP software (8.0, 9.0) likes to dump hidden files and folders onto disk too. Search for files with aol in name, include hidden files and folders. Easy Cleaner has a space usage button that views the drive, or specific folders on the drive and shows space use on a pie chart, probably your best bet of the two.

Best program I've found for quickly zeroing on what hard drive space is being used, is:

Scanner from http://www.steffengerlach.de/freeware/ Not on MG.(

It is small, quick to use, circular pie chart and you can drill down through Folders, sub-Folders to individual files.:cool

Try it, it'll become a must-have, IMO of course.:D Bazza

You are best off booting the pc from cd or floppy and using linux or Bart PE to view the drive. You don't need to install anything then. You can also do any maintenance that way.
