Need driver for PCI device

    Hi,

    I have an Inspiron 6400. I just downloaded Windows XP onto my new harddrive, and downloaded all the recommended drivers from the Dell website, but under Device Manager - hardware - there is a yellow question mark on Other Devices - PCI Device (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS_01BD1028&REV_01\3&61AAA01&0&D8).

    I rang Dell and they told me to download the chipset driver and Bios driver which I did and restarted but nothing has changed. Is it fixable?

    have you tried the modem driver? That's a common one that many people overlook, because most don't use it anymore. Tho usually it will say pci communications device. you might want to use everest and post a hardware report

    Hi

    Is your Sound/Audio working ok?

    What Service Pack for XP do you have installed (click Start > Run and type winver and hit enter to find out)?


    Its very likely that you are missing the High Def Audio driver from Microsoft (aka UAA Driver) and its HERE as the HWID code matches that device, but before installing please answer the questions above.

    Please find attached Everest Report.

    No - I don't think I have any audio/sounds. I just checked in control panel and all the options are greyed out.

    I am using Service Pack 2.
