Need For Speed Most Wanted Problem

I just switched from a Sapphire 9550, to a BFG 6600GT, (AGP). Everytime I play NFS Most wanted It chops every 15-30 seconds. Doesnt mater how low, or high the settings are it will still do it. Tried every resolution, doesnt matter. It seems like it ran better with my 9550 haha. Its Most Wanted Verson 1.3, If Anyone has any ideas, please get back to me, this is SUPER annoying.

Gig of Kingston HyperX Ram (tried re-seating)

320 gig WD SATA

Exaust fan in the back, and one blowing in, in the front. (PS has one blowing down on the CPU too) -- Temps seem normal.

 

ha thats a lot like my setup; same proc, hdd, similar mobo....ok back on subject. does it take a while for it to start getting choppy or is it like that from the beginning? it could be an overheating problem. Is this only a problem with this game?

 

It seems like its only NFSMW, Battlefield vietnam works great, so does tiger 2006, but those games arnt nearly as detailed as need for speed. I'll take the heatsync/fan off tommorow and scrape off the thermal grease and apply some new stuff.. see if that does anything..

Check out this thread, it would seem some bad programming is at fault for your problems (as it was for mine). This game ran fine on my old PC, was able to get too the 4th person on the blacklist. Now with my new PC, i cant finish the 4th blacklist member because of the stuttering crashing problems. Game ran GREAT on a 6600 GT, upgrade to a 7800 GT and the game is now close 2 unplayable. Kinda ironic.

 

Tottally worked, disabling one of the cpu's from the task manager before the game launched. Im gonna disabe hyperthreading in the bios too, see that works even better.. Thanks a lot!
