Need free software to convert movie files to animated gifs.

Preferably with the final product at least mostly resembling the original.

Actually I need something to cut down the movie files too.

Basically take a file, cut out a piece of it, and turn that into an animated gif.

I don't have any specific movie file extensions in mind, but the more flexable the better.

Any suggestions?

Free as in not paying for it. If there are any quick and easy free programs out there to do this.

 

i know and love of one program on my computer, Camtasia Studio 2005? 2006? i forgot... anyways i got it and LOVE it to death because it MAKES a webpage when you change it! the price is like 39.99 i thikn...... or you can get it for free... though very illegal. so dont try!

also you can change speeds and i dont remember if it has frame editing but its still awesome.
