Need help Fixing computer.

    Hi, Im trying to fix my friend computer form were his dad man handle the thing and pulled the montier cable out without unscrewing it.So im think he broke the On-board graphic card so I try putting in one of my olds and it didnt work, all the light for the key board and computer light up and the moniter just doesnt show anything.We also tryed two different moniters.

    sounds like it damaged the motherboard.

    The motherboard needs to know that you aren't using the onboard video. If you didn't change it then the signal is still being sent there. You would have to tell it to use the other video card. Which is something you usually do in the bios. Since you can't see anything than it will be hard for you to do this. But if you know where the setting is located in the bios you might be able to do it blind. I take it that you couldn't get the onboard video to work with a different monitor?

    That's what I was thinking too...but yea I dont know his BIOS, so I think he may be screwed till X-mas.Also we tryed different moniters on both onboard and the card...so I dont think I can really fix it.The farthest we got to seeing video was when I plug it in to the card, and some reason there was red lines going up and down it, so my guess is the motherboard is just broke.Thanks for the advice.
