I'm looking for a new pool table, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for one under $1000, I want it to be sturdy because recently a buddy of mine, well, someone sat on the corner of his and it kind of fell. I want one that's sturdy enough to sit on at least.

I have two in mind but wasn't sure if they are good ones or not, I don't know much about pool tables so I need some advice, LOL!

    Are these two good ones?

I'm not particular with those brands, though the last one seems to be of better quality.

So I'd say #2 nothing like a good game of pool. :)

Well sad to say, any other table I could recommend to you isn't going to be under 1000$ or 1500$ at that, Olhausen and Brunswick would be the top 2 to pick.

But I mean I guess in some cases it doesn't really matter they all do the same thing hehe, so I guess I would just go with the Heritage, not as flashy as the first but looks to be of better quality, and it's heavier and the legs are out further so it won't tip or anything.

I can't find prices on Olhausen but I was looking at a Olhausen York Contemporary Series 8ft table and I liked it. I could not find a price anywhere, you have an idea?

This was the one I was looking at, I like this table.

Unfortunately, they don't price these tables online for a rather odd reason, some places you need to register and basicaly be ready to buy the table at the exact moment to then find out how much it is, best thing to do is to find a store by you that sells them and see.

I'll take an educated guess at what your looking at would probably be around 1100$-1400$, but a very nice table I must say. I have their Springfield Laminate myself, that was 1300$, but well worth it, they use higher quality material on the rails and cloth.

Thanks for the info, I checked dealers for Olhausen and the nearest is 80 miles away, lol. I will give them a call and see, little more money is worth the table being sturdier and lasting longer.

The first ones I showed you, the "Mizerak Heritage 8' Pool Table", does that look like a fair table to you as in sturdiness? Did you read the description? What do you think personally of this table from your experience?

Well yeah, structurally it's seems pretty sturdy, but I guess iit really depends on how well you asemble it really, but if done correctly, sure it would do pretty good, the problem though that these tables have is the cloth gets dinged up easy and not only just leaves a mark it takes chunks out and messes up the travel eventually.

That and the rails give in so then you have refit new cloth and rails, gets rather irritating, but in experience I played the heck out of the table I had before so I guess it might not do as bad depending on how often you plan to play.

EDIT: 80 miles?! Woah, my billiard shop is right down the street from me.

Okay, so it's not a bad table, basically you pay for what you get eh? I will call about the Olhausen because I like it better but if it's more than what I have I will settle for the Mizerak Heritage I guess. I have a big family get together in a few weeks and I want to impress my jackass of a brother in law because he plays pool and I want to beat him in pool because he says noone can, but I don't have a table, LOL!

Hmm, sounds like fun :D got to love those kind of distant relatives.

Anyway, good luck to you on the table hopefully it works in your favor and maybe it might be at a reasonable price, you never know.

I don't know about the 2 tables you posted about, but make sure that it is a one piece slate what ever you buy. 2 or 3 piece slates always have problems later.

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully wherever I get it from will be honest with me and not tell me something is good if it's not. I don't know much about pool tables, I just have to have one before next week, lol.

I would stay away from any table that doesn't use real slate as the table bed. Just about anything else is asking for problems later.

I don't know how close this is to you, but all these tables are pretty high quality. I know the Valley tables will take what ever you want to throw at them. Every bar I have worked in or been in with pool tables has had a Valley table.

Okay, I also own a pool table. To bad I missed this earlier.

    I recommend the following:

1" slate. Italian slate is a more epensive, but most places now use either brazilian or (i think) chinese slate.

I have a 3 piece slate, and I HAVE NO ISSUES (Just took an hour, just to balance the table, but, then again, my basement isn't flat either.). Just makes sure that where you are storing the table, it is about 70% or less humidity.

    I personally own a 7' C.L. Bailey Renegade.

About the 1" slate. No need to worry about those fools who feel they must masse. :)

I spent about $1300 for mine at: http://ornerbilliards.com/

Also, those two tables from walmart use slatron, which is basically compressed wood. Typically 1 year warranty on the "slate".

Most good dealers have "free shipping and installation". I got mine delivered and installed, the same day that I bought it.

Of course I only drove about 50-60 or so miles to buy mine.

Also, make sure you buy a dart board, for one more item to beat your relative with. I know of a few quality dartboards, if you have any questions. :)

    Great Idea! :D
(I'm not too good at it)

I would feel like an ass if he came to my house and beat me on my table I just bought to beat him on. LOL!!!

    theefool,

This table will not be played on very much, what is your thoughts on the "Mizerak Heritage 8' Pool Table"?? I most likely will go with this one because like I said it's not going to be used a lott so I don't really need a fancy one.
