Need help loading OS- XP Home

    Please help- my mother-in-law had her hard drive fry out- cannot even access the recovery partition, drive just clicks slowly ten times, waits and does it again.

    She bought a new hard drive, but cannot locate her recovery discs (of course). I also have a Compaq but a different model so I can't use mine...any ideas? I have the OEM Windows sticker/ product key from her computer but don't have a disc to install windows from....please help!!!!

    You're going to have to find an OEM version of xp and install using her sticker ....not much else you can do.

    an IT friend of mine told me to try to copy my I386 win setup files and burn to cd since I have the product key...however, it won't burn, it errors out. If I zip it, it will burn but now I don't know how to unzip and run the setup via dos...or if it will work but I'm willing to give a shot because I don't have a clue where to get the OEM windows xp.
