Forgive me but this might be a little long winded...

A while back I bought a pretty decent desktop for a really good price. Now I'm looking into to upgrading a few things and would like some suggestions on what would be good for my intentions.

I'm looking to upgrade the processor and graphics card. Now, I'm not really looking for best on the market; too much money to spend especially since I don't really need it right now. Also, processors I understand, but graphics cards kinda bog me down with all the subtle differences and intended usage and all that. That's why I'm here. : (

Anyway, this is what I have at the moment:

    Windows 7 64
    AMD Athlon II x2 220, 2.8GHz
    5GB RAM
    Integrated ATI Radeon 3000
    Power Supply 250W
    PCI-E x16

As you can see the graphics card sucks big time. :D Now, I'm looking to do some gaming. I only play one or two MMOs and some other games, but I know that games like Aion and Unreal Tournament have some high demands for highest quality level. What I have currently is enough as a minimum for high quality except the graphics card, of which, I knew from the start I'd have to fix. I'll be upgrading the RAM to 9GB so that's not an issue.

Now, I'm considering a Radeon HD 4850 x2 2GB (I would like some other opinions though) and at least a 3GHz processor like perhaps the Athlon II x4 640, Phenom II x4 940 or 955. I don't want to spend over $200 for each of them but I'm open for any suggestions even if it's a little bit more. I would also like to know if I would need a new fan in the machine. I'd rather not if I can help it but if I must, I must. Also, as a note, I'm not interested in overclocking I really just want to plug-and-go for the most part. : )

If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it.

Is that a typo error as you are saying that your Power Unit is 250 watt, is that correct as you most certainly need to upgrade that before anything else

    Oops, sorry. It's 350 not 250.

What is the make and model of your motherboard, that can help us find out the CPUs it's capable of handling. And you will probably end up needing a 450-500w power supply to run a better CPu and better graphics card.

Ok, the mother board is H-Alpinia-RS780L-uATX and as far as I can tell, it can support the things I'm looking at.

Also, thanks for the power links. I'll calculate it out once I figure out for sure what I want for a processor and graphics card. I can see that I will need to upgrade to at least 500w though. Guess I missed that in my upgrade calculations. : (
