Need Help PC Just Restarts on its own

Hi guys i just sold my comp to a mate when i got a new 1 the spec's where

AMD +2400

30gb hdd
512 ddr
fx 5500

any ways it was working fine with me then i added a 256 memory stick into it so it was 512 mem and he took it home and now the computer ust mrestarts when it wants?? any ideas?

Well it might be a power surge somewhere, the prob did not occur when it was at your place. (I assume the pc is now at your friends place)

 

Take the ram out you just put in,different sticks dont like each other,can you post the name of the 2 sticks

 

he is dropping the computer off in a day or so so ill reply then with brand names

 

Mine did the same thing and it was in the Bios......I had to disable the auto restart......you may want to check that. Hope this helps.

 

like mr Rikky said, take out the new ram stick, im also pretty sure that thats ur problem. turning off the autoreboot will not solve the problem. but it will give u the bluescreen error message. but if it is the ram thats causing the problems the message wont be very helpful!...so take out the new ram and run prime95 torture test (select the blend test) for at least a couple of hours... if ur error free, the ram was ur problem

 

Because it is an old computer so before put in somthings like ram or PCI card you should clean the slot first.
