I've been getting Threat Alerts, and clicking on them opens a web page for SpyMaxx - spyware removal tool. Also, my normal desktop wallpaper is replaced with another "Computer Infected" type message, and the taskmgr.exe has been disabled. From what I've read, this is a con. I want it removed from my computer, but can't figure out which files and registry keys need to be deleted.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

The below guide will help our malware experts pinpoint the infection and they will post you some manual removal instructions to get rid of this as many new malwares randomly change their names and locations of infection in the registry amongsy other places so a trained eye is needed to spot them.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

Please complete all of the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide procedure that Halo gave to you. SmitFraudFix is really only part of the Special Removal Procedures link that is referenced in the READ ME and you did not even finish the SmitFraudFIx procedure which as two steps and two logs. But you don't need to do it anyway since you do not have an infection that it addressed.

Yeah, I noticed that I didn't have one of the listed infections. That's why I didn't post the other log. I'm still working on the problem, but have found a temporary fix. I did a System Restore that gave back my access to the Task Manager and I was able to disable the program that was giving me the messages. Unfortunately, the malware is still on my computer and the next time I restart it, I'll have to do the same thing... if I can't get rid of it before then.

When you run the READ ME and attach the logs we request, we will help you get the malware removed. If you don't run these steps, there is nothing more we can do for you.
