I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I can't fix it. Pretty sure I installed something bad and then probably saw a popup to fix and installed more bad malware on top of the first. Hoping for help.

Can't get rid of googleads redirects, I think I got rid of mixDJ, and not sure what else might still be lurking. These got quarantined by Avast before I ran through the report process: HTML:Iframe-QT [Trj], Win32:Malware-gen, JS:Iframe-ABQ [Trj].

    Reports attached, appreciate the help.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You need to attach the MGlogs.zip file that was requested from running MGtools.exe

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    How are things working now?

Yes fixme.reg was successful. Attached is the report, how many issues did I have, looks like a few things got removed. I primarily use Firefox and so far so good but I've only done a couple of google searches to test.

Just a couple search engine issues along with some junkware. Nothing really major.

Keep testing and if all is good then move on to the below.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove, you can delete these files now.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    8. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

It seems we didn't eradicate it, googleads is still on my machine. Seemed ok for a couple of days. Next suggestion?

Please describe your exact problem in more detail. I want to be sure that you are really experiencing a hijack or if it is some other kind of issue.

Also what browser are you using when you have the problem?

Previously MGtools never ran 100% properly for you. We may have to figure out why.

I'm running Firefox 10.0.1, and sometimes, not every time, the google search results don't send me to the url I see when I hover over the search results. When I click I get redirected to various sites, I initially see googleads in the url but then it bounces to a 2nd or 3rd url which I finally land on. It happens when I use the google search bar plugin to Firefox, as well as visiting google.com directly. I'd say 1 in 5 times the search results redirect, so it's not all the time. Ideas?
