I found another thread that is addressing this exact problem. My background is white and I keep getting an error message that says "Cannot find 'file:///C:/WINDOWS/privacy/danger/indez.htm'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."
I followed all the steps that the thread contained and I'm up to the SuperAntiSpyware Scan Log which I'm posting with this message.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

We still need the logs from running:
    MBAM
    ComboFix
    C:\MGLogs.zip ---> from running the C:\MGTools.exe

Right click your desktop / properties / desktop / customize / web / make sure nothing is checked and that there is nothing other than "My current Home page listed.

Ya, I just realized that I hadn't gotten all the way through the process. I'll finish up and then post all the logs if I'm still having problems. I am currently unable to right-click on my desktop. Works everywhere else but not there.

Done. Here's the other 3 logs. Now if I right click on my Desktop and click Properties it brings up Internet Explorer properties.

I am not seeing any malware remaining in your logs. You need to set msconfig to normal start up. And you need to uninstall:
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

    Reboot and download and install:
    Java Runtime 6

I suggest that you post in the software forum for the issue with your desktop properties.

Just to double check, run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

I removed Java 6 update 1 and installed 6. I checked my msconfig and it is set to normal startup. I don't get the Cannot find blah blah blah message anymore but my desktop is still messed up. Here's the MGlogs.zip.

I think I figured it out. The computer I'm working on belongs to a friend. He let a bunch of people use and they screwed it up. There was some sort of desktop overlay folder or program running. Not sure what it was but I closed it and everything's fine. If you see something odd in that log let me know. Otherwise, thanks for the help.

    Mistake #1 ....:-D

He should create an account just for those purposes ( if he must allow others to use it) and make it a limited account. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)

    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Ya, he's not too computer savvy...he has no idea about things like user accounts. I'll just set him up and tell him what to do. Thanks again for all the help. Much appreciated and I learned a few things. Thanks!
