I do appreciate all the great work you guys do. I normally follow your critter removal sequence and am able to clear my computer, but this time, I got to the Root Repeal and my computer locked up and now I can't get it to run again.
I am attaching the MBAM log files I have up to that step. My combofix log was too large and I will follow up with that one broken into two parts.

Re: Need Help with Critter Removal--Additional Attachment

Here is the ComboFix log in Multi-parts. Wow, I must really have something bad, the original file is 3 times larger than your upload will allow!:

    :-o

    Sorry for the inconvenience

I forgot to mention that Spybot ran without any findings.

Still need the log from running SAS as well as the C:\MGLogs.zip.

So sorry about the SAS log--shows nothing either, but am attaching it too. I didn't run the MGtools originally since I couldn't get the Root Repeal to run. I just ran it and am including the log.

    Thanks for your help!

I am not seeing any malware in your logs. There are a few things we should clean up however.
Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thanks for all your help! Your instructions were perfect and I was able to finish up with no issues. Thanks again!

Just curious, is there a way to repair my Vista modules without deleting all of my data? I have a few things that have quit working and that was partly why I thought I had something bad lurking on my computer. I guess sometimes they just get a bad bit of code and bam, they stop working correctly. I'm very timid about doing repairs after having to start over for a 4th time (first 3 were caused by a systematic breakdown of hardware, the 4th was having to set up a whole new computer with backups that didn't work at all). I just don't want to go through that again.

Thanks for all of your hard work! :)
