Need Help With Hp Xb3000 Docking Station Hard Drive!

i bought a hard drive that was made for the xb3000 expansion base and it is detectable only in device manager as a usb mass storage device. However it cannot show up in the My computer. This is probably due to the fact that the drive format is in EE format and not NTSF. I cannot format this hard drive with any program due to the fact that I cannot restart/turn on the computer with the hard drive inside because it will go into an infinite loop of the starting HP screen. The expansion base works perfectly and i followed all the instructions. Any suggestions or ideas before I return this? I called HP and they said it is probably a compatibilty issue... Thanks

 

I formatted the drive and it is detectable and works now. However, I still cannot restart or turn on my computer with the hard drive inside. Do i have to update some sort of bios or anything? Or does is my laptop not compatible with the 300 gb hard drive? Thanks
