I never worked with ISO files and could use a pointer or 2.

Basically I need to know what to do with an ISO file, and what exactly is it

Okay lets take an example, that I want to download windows XP service pack 3 from this site. The download is an ISO file.

What do i do with it. Just download it and double click the file, or do I have to extract it similar to what I would do with winzip or winrar.

I would appreciate any help that you can give me

    Hi

ISOs are packed files kinda like a zip file, but as a single file are easier to download and burn to CD/DVD.

To burn this ISO, download and install IMGBurn (its free, other burning applications can do this BUT this one is simple to use) then run it and click Write Image File to Disk then Where its says Please select a file, click the folder with magnifying glass (highlighted in red) and browse to the location you saved this ISO too and click Open, then Pop a CD into the drive and click Write Icon at the bottom (one with play button icon, highlighted in blue below)
