Hi all I was hit with these bugs yesterday, Errorsafe, Adware.Spysheriff, winfixer, Spyware.ISearch, Adware.Purityscan, and Adware.MaxSearch. My Norton Anti-Virus acted like it caught them, but then I started getting popups galore. I ran through the preliminary steps on your site and I think I got rid of the pest, but one thing I am seeing now is when I reboot my machine and hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to login it takes forever for my system to come up. I don't recall this being an issue before I got nailed by the bug. Does anyone have any suggestions? I will post my HiJack log and hopefully someone see's something there.

    Thanks!

    Hi

Please do attach all the other logs mentioned in the guide below, as your HJT log indicates Panda and Bitdefender have not been run before the HJT log was created as HJT is the last scan we mention to run, the reason we mention it to be the last scan is that Hijackthis is not the remove all malware scan many users think it is, it is limited in what it scans for and finds, the main area it scan sis browser hijacks and will highlight some other malwares but not all, so best to run through all the steps in order laid out.

    Run these first

SpywareStrike, Smitfraud, SpySheriff, SpyAxe & PSGuard Removal

Virtumonde aka Trojan Vundo Removal - some people also refer to this as WinFixer

then re-run the below and attach all the logs,

    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
