Need help with msn

anyone kno whats wrong with my msn, everytime i type a message to someone, and push enter it takes like 6 secs to send... i push enter and it just freezes for a while then sends the message, it does it on AIM too, its so annoying any kno whats goin on?

 

What kind of connection do you have?

 

oo sorry i was at my moms for like 3 days.. umm its cable, it used to work fine but i dunno why it does this now

 

did you just install some kind of firewall? thats the only thing i can think of that would cause that, if thats not it, then let the other, "smart" guys here at majorgeeks.com help u

p.s. i have cable too and i love it, lol.

edit: try uninstalling and reinstalling it, maybe that might help. just my .02.

 

i dont think i install some firewall stuff, ill try reinstalling it, its really annoying... it happens on AIM too so i dunno

 

Reset your cable modem, should be reset button or pin hole somewhere on the unit.
Mine Has pin hole on the back I just stick paper clip in to reset, When ever I reset, I first unplug power/cable cable/etc. for couple minutes then reconnect, power on, and then stick in the ole paperclip.
I dont have to do very offtin, usually after storms.

Another thought, clean up system, delete cookies etc, defrag, check for virus/ bugs/ spyware etc.

 

my cable modem doesn't have a reset button or pinhole, i just unplug for a few min to reset it. lol, i even rigged a fan onto the side of it so it wont get so hot. but for your msn problems, i dont know, ive had problems where it would take FOREVER to connect and stuff. i would just try unistalling it and reinstalling and see if that helps. do you have a bunch of stuff running in the background?

 

ya like steak said i usually unplug everything b/c my reset pin like doesnt work, its real gay, i used to use the reset hole but its messed up lol, so what should i do now?

First question your problem is only with MSN and AMI? or does happen with any Web pages?

Second question if it is "Cable modem unable to reset" do you own or is it Internet provider's?
I dont know if your problem is the cable modem, if so replace it, if provider owns it "free replacement"

 

nope just MSN and AIM, and it was charter comunications, but i think they changed to atlantic broadband

 

do you HAVE a firewall or anitvirus program running? some anitvirus programs have the instant messageing scanning crap that scans each and every message you send and recieve that might be slowin it down a lot.

 

haha i think your problem is that your isp sux ass!. Dont they have comcast where u live?
