need help with my cd-rom

hello,,,,

i have a few questions that i want to know if you
could help me with.

fist i need to know how to set up my comp so it
reads the cd rom first when booted up....

second i need to install a program that i can use to burn
cds.

i have a dell xps 400

and this is the drive that i have
HL-DT-ST DVD+- RW GSA-H21N

When you start your PC, go into the Bios setup and change the boot order in here. If you need a more detailed guide how to do this just ask

There are loads, Recommended would be Nero 7. Although searching on websites such as Download.com or possibly even Major geeks here, there will be programs you can download to do this.

also any free versions that i can d/l to burn cds/dvds?

To get into BIOS: Most Dell PC's require you to press F2 when the Dell logo pops up when you first power up the PC. Look thru the BIOS for "Boot Device Priority" or maybe "Boot Order" and set it for the CD/DVD drive first.
