    Can use some help.
Since I do suspect that my system may have foreign agents lurking I did follow Major Attitude step by step article on removing spyware & viruses. Along the way there are some things not clear to me,like installing Ad-aware VX2 Cleaner Plug-in, is there any settings to set or anything specific to check or click? And "look for the immunize feature and use it" , at what point do you activate this.
Since I cannot get online in safe mode I did the ON-LINE scan in NORMAL mode, at the end the system seems OK.

The next step I need is to create a slip stream XP-CD by following Elders Geek instructions I was able to complete the operation.
But how do I test to make sure it functions properly?
    Browsing the CD there is the system compatability check, so I decided to do just that, and got the following windows setup warning;

Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.

Warning: If you decide to delete the newer version of Windows that is currently installed on your computer, the files and settings cannot be recovered
    .

What I noticed after changing the Microsoft Corporation.img name to Bootimg.bin that the modified date is 12/31/1899 5:00:00 PM
Is this the cause of the problem if so how can I fix it. Otherwise this CD is useless.
    Thanks

The only way to test it is to actually install it onto a computer. Did you slipstream all the latest MS hotfixes, patches and updates onto the disc? If your computer had more up-to-date hotfixes, etc. then you would get that warning. Try your original XP disc's compatibility check and see if the same warning pops up.

Somebody posted another thread about this recently,
and mentioned there is a way of checking the file
with a virtual-cd-like program to make sure it works.
(that is before you burn the image)

I *think* it was VMWare Workstation, but
check it out to be sure.

I slip stream the file namedWindowsXp-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe that was mentioned in the instructions, I would not know how to slip stream all the others, the patch up just keep coming.
Long time ago after installing SP2 I tried updating with the origial CD aND got the same warning.
ComputerGate I will check out VMWare.
Thanks guy's, if anyone has more info please share with us.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with your slipstreamed CD. It's just a warning that you are about to overwrite an up-to-date OS with an older version of that OS if you continue. It should warn you at that point. That would indicate to me that it's working properly up to that point at least.

Have you made a slipstream CD yourself and tested out, and do get the same warning.
And what happens if you continue with the operation?
    Thanks

Yes. I used nLite (in the MG Backup section, along with Autostreamer) to make an unattended install with SP2 slipstreamed from my original SP1 disc. It's warning you that you are trying to overwrite a newer version of Windows containing all the latest updates with a previous version lacking them. Most programs will warn if you try to replace a current version with an older one. It will just install the version of the OS from the disc and all hotfixes, updates, etc. not on the disc will be lost, and of course any settings that depended upon them. Then you will need to update it again.

Is there a way to get all the latest updates on the CD.
The existing slip stream is Old XP with one update and in my opinion I might as well use the old XP and update again without the trouble of creating a slipstream CD.
Can you enlighten me what is the advantage of creating this new CD.
    Thanks a bunch
