    Windows XP
Compaq Presario 2.5 GHz Intel Celeron processor
    256 MB DDR SDRAM
80 GB Ultra DMA hard drive

I followed the tutorial for removal but I still have popups and a slow system. I ran Ccleaner, Ad-Aware, Spybot, MS defender, MS Malicious remover and scan using Bitdefender, and Panda Active scan.

I did not use Hijack this because of my lack of experience.

    Need your help thanks.

But as instructed in the READ ME, if still having problems after running the other steps, you must attach it along witht the logs you already posted. Please follow the directions in step 7 and attach your HJT log. You have a bunch of issues to fix.

Also please empty your Norton Quarantine folder (mentioned in step 0 of the READ ME).

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Please run HijackThis and click on the Open the Misc Tools Section button on the open page. Then select Open process manager on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click Kill process. Then click yes.
    C:\defender23.exe
    C:\Program Files\ipwins\ipwins.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\??stem\l?gonui.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ECURIT~1\msiexec.exe
    C:\Program Files\Compaq Connections\1940576\Program\BackWeb-1940576.exe
    C:\Program Files\Windows\wWinUpdate.exe

After killing all the above processes, click Back.
Then please click Scan and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {084B2A50-B894-C831-BB28-EAABC937B6B9} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\izjuaty.dll
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [defender] C:\\defender23.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IpWins] C:\Program Files\ipwins\ipwins.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ares] "C:\Program Files\Ares\Ares.exe" -h
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Imgegi] C:\WINDOWS\??stem\l?gonui.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DNS] C:\Program Files\Common Files\mc-110-12-0000140.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Notn] "C:\WINDOWS\system32\ECURIT~1\msiexec.exe" -vt yazr
    O4 - Global Startup: Compaq Connections.lnk = C:\Program Files\Compaq Connections\1940576\Program\BackWeb-1940576.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete
    :
    C:\Program Files\ipwins <--- the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\Windows <--- the whole folder
    c:\program files\common files\Download <--- the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\mc-110-12-0000140.exe
    C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msoe.exe
    c:\temp\sahagent-cdt1004.exe
    c:\temp\salmau.dat
    c:\keyboard23.exe
    C:\defender23.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\izjuaty.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\??stem\l?gonui.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ECURIT~1\msiexec.exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST)
    .

Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.
Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now.

Everything seems to be working great. Much faster and no more popups.

    I can't thank you enough!

    I've attached another HJ log.

    Thanks again for your help.

    You're welcome.

You can even speed things up a little more by having HJT fix the below two lines. They are not malware. They are just not needed:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

Your log is clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

After that, you should work thru the below link:
