I Have Amd Athlon 3200 On A Kv2 Extreme Mother Board With 512mb Of Ram. My Temps Don't Seem Right. I Downloaded The Bios Updates And My System Seems To Be Fine Its Running At 27 C. But My Cpu Is A Bit Hi I Feel It Runs About 43 C And Peaks Out At 56 C. Even After My Bios Updates. I Have 8 Fans In My Tower. I Never Had A Problem With The Systems Temp But My Cpu Was Running At 49 C And Peaking Out At 65 C Before My Bois Update. I Hope U Guys Can Helf I Could Use Some Advice. I Really Want To Overclock My Pc But I Want To Have It Burn Up My System. I Want To Know If This Is Normal Or Not And If Not I Could Use All The Help I Can Get. Thanks

Welcome to the forum:) First thing to check is that all your fans are blowing the right way, fornt to back, bottom to top,I'm assuming this is the stock cooler:confused: if so around 60c is normal for an xp 3200 under full load unless this temp is from the bios in which case its way to high, try a few different temp monitoring programs as they often give inaccurate and different measurements, the one from your motherboard manufacturer is also worth a try, post the exact make and model of your motherboard, while monitoring the temp run toast for 10 mons and post the temp it reaches

If those temps are from the bios I dont use the computer, turn it on enter the bios go to the temperature and let the computer warm up after 10 mins or so touch the heatsink it should be warm to the touch, check the temperature if its around 50c and the heatsink is cold you may need to reinstall the heatsink with some fresh thermal paste

to check whether your computer is stable ATM or during overclock you will need this program also, use the torture test feature and set it to test little memory and lots of cpu,if your computer is stable you should be able to leave it running overnight

This is the best link I know for baseline temps (Max):

    http://users.erols.com/chare/elec.htm#amd

    Athlon XP-3000+
    (6-A-0 2.16GHz Barton) 1.65V
    (?V~?V) 2.0V -- -- 45A 58.4W 74.3W 85° C
    Athlon XP-3000+
    (6-A-0 2.1GHz Barton) 1.65V
    (?V~?V) 2.0V -- -- 41.4A 53.7W 68.3W 85° C

Without knowing which is your specific model we can still see that max temps under load have an upper threshold of 85C. You are well within that but if you intend to OC don't go over this for any prolonged period in fact you may have an option within your BIOS to set this as a shut of temp and thus if your CPU ever hits 85C it will automatically shutdown and preserve your hardware.

When was the last time you gave the inside a clean?!? This can improve temps by 5-10C and is a lot better than updating software!

i bought it new last month so it really clean inside . my mother board is k8t800 pro made by ECS.And my processor AMD 3200 athlon with 640kb cache and it operates at 200MHZ. I've been running a stress test its peaked out at 75 c. . i don't now if thats good or not.thank you all for helping

My mistake here form the above site:

    Athlon XP-3200+
    (6-A-0 2.2GHz Barton)
    1.65V (?V~?V) 2.0V (Upper Core Voltage!!!) 85° C (Upper Temp)

What sort of thermal interface material (TIM) did you use?!? You should be using a paste as the pads you get with the CPU and HS are crap imho and will dry out in a month to 2 at best. It seems that 75C is within your specs but personally I would prefer it lower so consider TIM and if your still concerned possibly an after market HS or WaterCooling.

:) Your still Wrong Bold Egale

The poster has an AMD Athlon 64 3200, socket 939
    The Max Temp is 70c
It should have Died at 75c
So I'll geuss his Temp reading are incorrect

This appears to be his MOBO:
    http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/mainboard/ecs-kv2-extreme-via-k8t800-pro.html
His CPU there are several similar chips in 3200 flavor all with max temp of 70c

Chrzzzz ASUS I hope this clearer for Ronsky I'm sorry if I misinterpreted the specific CPU (I was finding it difficult as a. not enough info and b. I know nothing, nothing about AMD CPU's) but I think you really need to look at your thermal management as ASUS has clearly pointed out you are in theory over upper-thresholds for temp.

I'd suggest R & R the Heatsink & use some good thermal paste, I would suggest Artic Silver Ceramique after cleaning off the old Thermal pad or Thermal paste.

Make sure Case has good air flow/air exchange. (just becuase ya have 8 fans doesnt mean you have good air exchange)

I would even take a step further
    Get a good aftermarket HSF
I'd suggest an ThermalRight XP-90 and add the Panaflo H1B 92mm fan
The best bang for your buck, the Only thing better would be water, OCing or not:
    http://www.jab-tech.com/Thermalright-XP-90-OEM-pr-2921.html

What are you using to monitor Temps?
I suggest the use of multiple utilities, Bios, Everest, MBM5, use more than one, compair, most MOBO sensor's are inaccurate.

I'd also suggest keeping CPU temp under 50c
