Need Help

    Need help with Windows XP Pro, it locked up, so I powered it down and restarted it but when it tried to start it went to HP options, then to windows start normally then it started the XP loading screen for about 1 min. then I heard a click and it went back to HP options and it keeps doing this. I changed hard drive to one that had Windows ME so I could get back on line. I bought the computer used and I don’t have XP OS Disk

    Hi

    Can you start the PC in Safe Mode (F8 at boot) ok?
    Or from the F8 menu choose Last Known Good and does that work?

    What Model HP is this?
    What Service Pack version is your XP at?

    no it clicks then goes black and then to HP prompts, Thanks

    This is a download of an .iso file of just the Recovery Console for XP.
    Burn to CD with Nero or other 'disc image' capable tool and boot.

    XP Recovery Console.

    If you can boot to the Recovery Console you may be able to do a fixboot.

    Thanks I Will Try This, But is it safe to boot me as P- 0 drive and boot Xp as 2nd P drive

    Dear Friends!
    Thanks so much, You are a life saver. I ran the .iso file and ran check disk and it found a mistake in size of hard drive and repaired it. And then it rebooted to windows XP. Thanks again. Have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year
