Ive been thinking about getting a wireless router for my compter, but I need to have a few things answered. I want the wireless router for my computer, which is about 15 feet away from our other computer that has the modem next too it, Ive been running about a 80ft ethernet cord to my room, if I get a wireless one for my computer, does that mean that the computer next to the modem needs a wireless one too?

And how exactly do they work? Does a cable run from the modem, to the router, then a plug put into the computers send and recieve the internet like this?

The PC next to the modem & router does not have to be wireless, hardwired is better anyway!

If your already hardwired Why go wireless? ( maybe your cable is trip hazzard?)Ya dont need 80' cable to run 15'??
Shorter cables are avaible, I make my own.

Modem connects to wireless router (hardwired) the wireless router has extra ports to hardwire other PC's like the one in your case, next to your modem.

Any PC that you want wireless will need to have a wireless adaptor, here's example of one:

Yes the cable I have now is a trip hazzard, its 80 feet because it needs to go around walls and such. the 15feet is the actual distance from here to the comptuer w/ modem.

Ok, let me get this stright, I buy the wireless deal, and it plugs into a spot on my hardwire router. then I stick the other end of the wireless into my computer and Im good to go?

Oh stupid me, ok, so the it goes Modem, wireless router, which is connected to the modem through the ethernet cable. Now I have 2 options. 1, I can wire my computer next to the modem just like I would with a standard router, then I can use the wireless end for the computer Im on now. Correct?

Im assuming that if I want to do this, Ill have to get a wireless NIC card, correct? One isnt included with the router?

Did you look at the links I posted.

Modem connect to router, the router has one port for the modem "the WAN port"
Any PC's you want hardwired will connect to the other port's on the router "RJ-45 ports", you ofcourse you'll be limited to the amount of port's on your router, ( not to confuse, but you can add a switch to the router to add additional RJ-45 ports)
Then for any PC's you want wireless (you can have more than one) each PC that will be wireless will need wireless adaptor (one for each wireless PC)
I previously posted an example of one.

The wireless NIC card/wireless adaptor, usually does not come with the router, but I have seen a few that does. ( Always read the contents of the box)
I would suggest that you purchase the same brand wireless router as the wireless NIC card.

I also would suggest to connect Via Hardwire when ever possible.
