Need instruction on formatting and partitioning

Hey guys and gals!

I just got a Seagate Free Agent Desktop USB 250g external hard drive. Unfortunately it didn't come with instructions on how to format and partion it. I have done several google searches and even searched this site but I still have no idea how to start the process. Can someone please help me?

 

If you want to install OS,you don't need to look to other sites,how to format your HD.The OS will do it for you when install begin.

Sorry but I am obviously too stupid to understand that site. I need to partition an external hard drive. I don't need to install windows again.

 

First of all ,YOU ARE NOT STUPID,so don't insult yourself.I work with comp ,and I don't know something about them.That is why MG exist.

Ah well never mind then. I shouldn't have to buy software to make the partitions. I think that my computer days are rapidly coming to an end.

My hd is stuffed which is why I bought the external. I am going to have to remove all my own files so that the afterschool kids can have enough space to run the programs that they need. I can't figure out how to partition this external.
