I just recently had a bunch of pop ups appear and it persisted to download some program called Security Toolbar 7.1. I have tried to go into the control panel to uninstall the program, but everytime I do it says the same thing, " My computer must be rebooted before continuing this process", well I've done that a few times and it still hasn't removed it. I have researched and heard awful things about this program. If anyone can help me to remove this program without having to do like others I have read about and buy some program offline, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you greatly.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

bjgarrick, thanks for the quick response. I do however have a question to ask. I ran the ccleaner and it looks like it is deleting pictures I had saved to my computer of my son. Do you know for sure if it will delete them? I don't have anything to back them up on, I only have them saved on this computer and don't want to lose them.

They should not be deleted at all. The only thing CCleaner deletes is items like Cookies, Temp Files, MRU's and items like this.

What makes you think it's deleting pictures? Feel free to attach a screenshot if you like.
