Need some Computer Help...

Hey I need a bit of help Whenever i try to open .exe files i get not a valid Win32 application and when i go to some webpages it will not show the entire page I have ran AVG free edition for viruses but it will not let me update it I cant update windows ethier I have tryed a clean install of windows but no luck (I have it disconnected from the internet and when i open windows update it comes up buti cant dl anything) when it i try to open it with internet on i get a white screen

Since you said Win32 errors, I'm guessing (note I'm guessing here! ) you are using windows 9x (95/98/ME)?

 

Hey thx I have XP My specs are 256 mb of ram Intel pentium 4 processer 30gig hardrive Dell 2400

 

What browser are you using?

IE/FireFox/Opera? What are these sites you are trying to browse? Do you have a router? What about a firewall? Antivirus?

 

It happens with any browser Netscape IE Firefox The anti virus i used was AVG free edition and tried Multi Virus cleaner 05 I have the built in network firewall from windows enabled BTW i have service pack 1

 

When did the problem start happening?

Does it download and execute (run/install)?

 

It started happeng about 2 weeks ago i have already dled and tryed all those programs but with no luck so far and when i try to run that link i get a 404 error

hmm still the same problem I think something is wrong with my connection because it downloads really fast in an instant I am pretty sure its not a virius now though i have ran about 10 diffent programs

Many times it can be rather confusing if more than one tries to help, both for those helping and for the one in need

• How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP
• Check that your HOSTS file only has one entry (127.0.0.1 localhost)

Unless other suggestions comes up, then I guess you have to do one of the following:

• Go back to a System Restore before the behavior began
• Perform a inplace/repair-install, where installed application doesn't have to be reinstalled (Where X: is the drive letter containing the XP install CD)
