Need some help with HL2/CSS/TF2

i just got a new comp today a Dell xps 730
intel core2 processor,4 gig ram, nvidia 9800
i also have my firewalls off to make sure that this
wasnt causing the problems.
i just went through 5 hours of updates installing
HL2,CSS,&TF2. i had these games on my old comp
and installed them on the new comp from the disks and
through steam. when i try to open the i get to the screen
when the guy has the valve in his head,then it just disapears and
goes back to the steam menu. i tried to register my cd key and
i get the message that it is a duplicate key b/c it was on my old comp.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you uninstall them off your old comp before installing onto your new one. I had the same problem when I a bought a new pc a couple of years ago. I had to fire up the old pc get it online then uninstall the games in steam. Then I reinstalled the games onto my new pc and the problem was resolved.

Worth a shot albeit a pain in the butt.


ps. oh you may have to uninstall it off your new pc first, but try it without first.

 

i just got it working today,,,, i mean you gotta love dell

they didnt install 4 sets of drivers onto my comp that they

were supposed to install during the building and installation

of the computer...


btw steam has changed now ,,, you dont have to uninstall games
from your old comp anymore,, you just wont be allowed to run them
at the same time. or have steam running simotaneously on both comps.
