Need some info and help

I think I need some help before I start the removal procedures from this web forum (http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407) I have about 3 different spy ware applications that I can catch with Microsoft anti spyware, but they keep coming back. (Aproposmedia, Cydoor, Targetsaver) .. and they cause my computer to crash about 2 times a day. But I had a few questions I thought I should ask before I start the process of removing everything.

I have been running two anti-viruses on my computer for well over a year. One is AVG and the other is anti-vir. After reading information on the web board I see that this was a mistake and that I should only be running one. I think I will remove AVG , but I wanted to make sure that I am not going to become re-infected by anything that might have been caught by AVG.

My second problem is that I was hit by a Trojan a few months back. (that’s how I got this spyware). The Trojan dumped tons of spyware on my computer. I have a friend that did a good job at removing the trojan and most of the spy ware that it placed on my computer. He used Hijack This, but he placed it on the desktop. After reading up on hijack this I see that he should not have placed it on the desk top and that there is a newer version of the program now. So what will happen if I delete the file on the desktop and reinstall the new version the proper way? Will it bring back all the spy ware that was on my computer from before? Because my computer would not run for more then a minute the way it was.

Any help would be much appreciated and any tips on what I should do would be great. I need to get this computer back to its proper state.
