Need someone to tell me about spyware!

Last week I got a little pop up that said when windows<I have 98se><sucky edition!!>
Later that day after I had also sent all my personnal info to a bogus ebay email my computer stopped working.Thru my limited knowledge I managed to get to the safe mode but ultimatley went to a computer place and paid 75 bucks and now Im back online.Can someone anyone explain to me why today the popup box came up again, this time I was smart enough to say no, my dsl carrier suggested this site, only after I had smoozed the hell out of the guy with all the sweetness I could muster thru my fury!! Can you suggest also anti virus software, anything, I surf alot and sell on ebay, and this computer is all the contact I have with my friends and family so I need it!so come on and use easy words...~katie

 

You can use a software Firewall like Norton Security it would block many Popups but not all of them.

Most of these popups are kind of Ads, they are embedded in Websites codes and there is nothing too much you can do about it coming, they might even look like Windows messages.

The rule is never click on any thing that you did not ask for all of this popups that warns you about your computer while you are surfing do not know any thing about your computer condition it just trying to lure you into clicking on them.

As for Spyware download the following free program and run every day at the end of the Internet activities it will clean your computers from Spies.

there is a built in messenger in windows it is for network admins to send messages on networks but some spammers have figured out how to abuse it

that site explanes it and tells you how to turn it off

if you still have it after useing a spyware killer (i like ad aware but use spybot as backup) get that and kill the messager
