i recently purchased a new sound card for my old 333 MHz celeron machine that runs Win2000. the pkg claimed this new sound card required a pentium class CPU or better, and since installing this card, I am seeing the negative effects of this. sound quality is poor, and other functions have slowed as well.

can someone recommend a sound card, as well as where to find it, that would work on this system without taxing it so much? motherboard appears to be PCChips M748MR 1.0.

    thanks ahead of time

A Soundblaster card or similar that has it's own processor. Sounds like the one you have uses the cpu to do the procesing, thereby taxing your system.
