Need to clean mouse

I have a Logitech MX510 wired mouse. About a year ago I spilled some soda on it. It turned off, then back on, worked for a few minutes, then shut off and hasn't turned back on since. I've opened it up, and I haven't found any evidence of bad or damaged circuits, so I want to clean it out and see if perhaps some residue is interfering with its operation. What should I use to clean it out? I've heard that either distilled water or rubbing alcohol will work without harming the components. Any suggestions?

Denatured alcohol (or methylated spirit) works better than rubbing alcohol and it doesn't leave the oily film.

Ah, can I find that at the local pharmacy or hardware store? Or is there a certain place I should look? Is it safe to submerge the mouse in the fluid, or should I carefully apply with q-tips and towels?

    Q tips :)

It is often used as liquid fuel in camping stoves, so a camping store or hardware store should carry it.

I always hope for a way to just submerge equipment in fluid to clean it. I'm sure it can't be THAT bad for the equipment if dried completely. :-D

Ah well, I'll go searching for the fluid later this week. Thanks for the advice! I hope that cleaning it removes some residue that's bridging a circuit somewhere so that it starts working again, or something. [/optimism]
