I just bought a new latop (Toshiba Tecra A9 w/Win XP Pro) that came with a trial for Office 2007. I need to install Office 2003. When i tried to uninstall the Office07 using Add/Remove programs i got the blue screen of death stop error message, something about a driver issue?? so i tried to just install office 2003 with the trial of 07 on there anyway (never activated). To do this I had to install MS Works first because my Office 2003 is an upgrade version. I got 2003 installed but when i tried to activate it it kept telling me it could not connect to the internet, even though all my other programs were connected to the internet just fine. I thought perhaps it was the Office 2007 Activation Wizard that was the problem so I uninstalled that and it fixed the connection issue.

Now, I do actually want Outlook 2007 only, which I have a CD for. Everything else was working now so i crossed my fingers and tried installing that from disc. Maybe not a smart idea but i really want to end up with Office 2003 Small Business and Outlook 2007, both of which I own (transfering from a previous laptop that died a motherboard death, but worked fine with these 2 apps runing). Trying to install Outlook 2007 ends with a message saying there was an error during setup and its not installed. Trying to Uninstall anything 2007 i get error messages- either "it is the wrong launguage" or there is "not enough memory" to open Excel (there's 2GB). Can't uninstall. So I uninstalled Office 2003. Same error messags. I system restored backed to prior to installing Office 2003. Same error messages. If i try to run the 2007 activation wizard there is nothing but an error message that says script error and it's blank. I looked on the recovery disc but there's nothing useful on there. Am I in so deep that I should just reformat and start over (I've already put a lot of work into setting this system up the way I want, but it's better to start over now than later)?? Or does anyone see a way out for me??

If i do just reformat and start over, does anyone know how I get rid of the Office 2007 trial?? Microsoft says they don't "recommend" using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility with Office 2007 products. I tried Revo Uninstaller but it had the same problems/error messages as Add/Remove Programs.

    Thanks. I feel like a loser :-(
