Need to "Wipe" My Computer Clean

I have been dealing with virus and other problems for an extended period of time. I Have tried everything and even had someone come to my home to review my computer.

It has been decided that the best course of action for me is to "wipe my computer completely clean" and start "fresh" by installing a new system on my desktop.

My question is:

What detailed steps should I take to wipe my computer clean to ensure that I have removed everything and then to re-install a new system?

I have already gone through my entire desktop and saved all wanted/required documents, files, etc. to a CD to install at a later date. What are the next steps that I should take?

I would appreciate any guidance you can provide.

I deleted your other 2 threads as only one thread is needed. I suggest you start with trying our clean up procedures to see if things can be fixed up before resorting to a format and clean install. I think you'd be surprised at how effective our procedures are. If you'd like to give it a try....

Please follow the steps below:

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.


After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

When you return to make your next post make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
