Need Video Capture Program

hi, im doing a project for school where i have to advertise something, and i was assigned a video game, so ive been trying to find a program that can record video while i play the game that i can then use for my commercial, ive heard of fraps but that costs money

does anyone know of a free video capturing program i can use to record video games???

Fraps has a trial period of something like 30 days. That should be good enough for a school project. There isn't really a lot of good choices for recording video games as you play.

 

i think my friend told me that in the trial version u can only take like 30 second demos at a time, which would really piss me off, ill check it out, but does anyone else know of any????

Avast detected the installer as a trojan when I ran it. I went through the spyware-virus removal procedure and came out clean afterward, though.

 

so it has a virus in it huh? i dont think im even going to trust that BS, but thanx for trying to help

ok, im going to try Fraps, CapturePad, and CamStudio

if the game starts to lag, would that be because of a slow CPU or not enough RAM?

 

Fraps-very good, good FPS, good quality, except like i said, i can only record 30 sec clips, thats not gonna due........

the other 2, look good HORRIBLE FPS, pretty much no chance for those unless someone can help me raise the FPS on them

so if anyone can help me with these programs or if u know of any others, i would really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!

did u try using camstudio? i tried using it on CS:S and i got like 6fpg, so horrible,

can u try using it and tell me how it works for u? cause mines horrible, and i dont know why

 

It is defiantly a false positive. I've been using CamStudio for years and never had any issue with it.

 

u use camstudio? do u get good fps??? cause i was getting like 6.7fps with CS:S, now im going to end up recording guildwars this weekend assuming i can get one of these to work good, how can i boost the fps??? help me please

Running a video capture and a game at the same time might just be pushing your system to it's limits. I believe Fraps is designed with gaming in mind, whereas these others are more general purpose.
