    Hello,

My browser.sys file is GONE. As in Pooft, Natta, Notthere.

I am just recovering from a pretty serious trojan attack that I believe I caught from an infected PDF (yes I had an older copy of Acrobat Reader).

How can I get this file from my Vista Installation disk?

    Any help much appreciated

    Peace,
    Audre

Can you boot and try a repair?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I'm sorry I failed to provide additional information -- the system 'runs' and I can log in and use the internet. I just can't access my local internet as the Workstation service fails to start because of errors in the dependency chain.

I can't do an 'upgrade' using the Vista installation disk (only full installs as the 'upgrade option has been disabled on my OEM Vista disk)

What I got desperate enough to do late last night was actually install Vista on a spare drive so that I could have a fresh copy of all the DLLs and SYS files. And that's how I 'got my file'. LOL.

However, it might help someone else in the future to find out if a single file can be manually extracted from installation disks...?

    Peace,
    Audre
