    Greetings, owenbritton...

We need more info: what type of drivers are you looking for? Audio, video, network, chipset, etc.?

Reliable Windows 98 drivers are becoming increasingly more difficult to find and implement - you'll probably have to dig deeply into the various hardware manufacturers' archives to find the proper software...

    Hi

Hoping that the drivers listed HERE http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19 for that model of Dell PC and Win98 work but install the Chipset driver first then the audio, modem, network and reboot and test.

    Chipset
    Audio
    NetworkVideo

If the above dont work well in Win98 then please follow the below as written

    Okay thanks for the references...
Another driver problem sound and video were installed but still no sound now it's showing I'm missing a "PCI System Management Bus" What is it ??

The Dell page does not list a driverfor a "PCI System Management Bus".. but since I don't have sound I'm assuming it's got something to do with audio

    What's a "PCI System Management Bus" ?

What's a "PCI System Management Bus" says it needs a driver but no such critter listed on Dell

working on a Dell Optiplex GX240 Win 98 SE

The SM Bus is usually configured as part of the chipset driver package - did you try to install the chipset file linked by DavidGP?

Re: What's a "PCI System Management Bus" ?

Try this driver link from Dell, Change the OS to Win98 and then get the chipset driver. "PCI Management Bus" should be part of that I believe.

    Hi...

Trying to get this thread merged with this older thread so we don't head down the confusion path...

45 win 98 files for the Optiplex GX240 grab the ones you need and burn to a CD. When you need to install, point the installer to the CD.

    1. Upgrade Prep Tool for XP; Probably not needed.
