neighbors dog

i gotta find a way to shut the neighbors dog up! i need ideas.

they put the stupid yapping little demon outside and it incessantly barks for 30 min straight, then they let it back in. a couple hours later they put it back out, and the same thing all day long!
it must even do it while its taking care of business!
i cant see the little hellion, but im a night worker (sleep during the day) and its driving me crazy


any ideas???

Couldn't you just go knock on the door and say...." shut your dog up!
It shouldn't matter what time it is. yippy, yappy dogs need to be shut up.
Maybie the people don't realize there anklebiter is so loud because they became so DEAF as a result!

I feel your pain, hate the yappy dogs in my neighborhood. My Great Dane don't bark much (and I wouldn't allow it), but when she does her bark does not carry as much as the little ankle bitters.

wish i could talk to the fools, but the mother (i think its the mother) is a big ole mullet wearing nasty. if you try to say hi to her she just snarls at you. the funny thing is the son (if it is a boy) looks just like its mother thing in mullet and mass.

If politely addressing the issue with your neighbors doesn't work most, if not all areas in the US at least, (don't know where you're from?) have laws regarding barking dogs. Usually a visit from the local PD is effective and if not, a second visit (or more..keep calling!) when they get served with a summons to appear in court and then have to pay fines usually works.

To help your cause if you have a video recorder start recording the episodes to show the police/judge what is going on.

 

Just saw your post about not being able to talk to them...that's what I get for being distracted and taking to long to submit my reply..write them a letter and send it certified mail..keep your receipt and a copy of the letter as proof that you brought the nuisance to their attention.

I have two small large dogs.(they never bark, unless needed)
I mean One is a White Shepard crossed with Coyote( bet everyone didn't know that German Shepards all used to be White, and that the Germans had them cross breeded so they were darker....Just a quick fact)
The other is a Sheparard mixed with ....Well a (BeeP) mix
so what if you got a .....

Didn't wanna get banned, so I wrote what I thought, and then covered it all with little stars.

 

Before writing that letter, check with local PD and/or city hall and find out just what ordinances are in place for loud nuisances like that. Always helps to know what official backing you have.

Keep the letter polite but firm. Let them know you have to sleep in the daytime, detail the local ordinances that can be brought to bear if necessary, and ask for a reply. If they don't reply, contact the police department or file a complaint as necessary.

Killing the dog may sound good, but will likely get YOU in more trouble than they would get in for the yapping.

 

I think everyone would be thrilled if i did the same, bye the way...

Honestly though!
I think if you wait till the scary little puppies are inside, and just talk to the owners, they would feel for you, and try to hush up the little Gaffer Things.
Most people are kind at heart and have no idea that they bother, or somthing of theirs bothers. Also , most people are to polite to complain.
Before looking towards athorities, I think you should talk to your neighbors!
If that doesn't work, pull out the rat tr.....Kidding
then seek other methods of relieving human cruelty to other humans alla Ankle Biter!

then a coat hanger strategically placed so that when the beast walks outside to answer the nicky nicky nine door thing you pull off.......Results in a BLARING scream that can't be identified, as well as yappy AnkleBiters in the backgound.
Then ...
after strategically placing 6X9's under the porch of the VICTIM AT HAND, and climbing under the car of another neighbor and connecting to that BATTERY, prefferably being very X FILES about it.....

The ladies foot....AS SCARY AS IT MAY BE..wil trigger constant yappy noises all day while your at work. and the scary foot wont know, because all the owner of the scary foot sees is her adorable ANKLE BITER having the time of its life ....( Anklebiter comunication going on here)
After al this amplified 50 times to her inhuman ear..
She will blame it on her own dogs ANKLE BITING VOCALS, and have them removed for you!
End result....A Good nights sleep for you.

I'd only support antifreeze as a solution if you're willing to go "drink for drink" with the dog. If you're in a community with noise bylaws then deal with the problem through the authorities. If there is no bylaw protection and you have real reason to fear talking to the owners then kidnap the dog and take it to the SPCA far enough away that it won't be traced back to the owner. Remember, it's not the dogs fault, it's only being a dog.

I can't believe someone would suggest antifreeze, then accuse others of being nasty! Hypocrisy at it's worst.


It's never the dogs fault, they shouldn't be punished nor abused. It's the so-called owners fault and responsibility.

Any action you take should only involve them and not the dog (not to mention that in most civilised countries it's a crime to hurt an animal, and the moral implications).


There are plenty of authorities you can contact, the police as already stated, the EPA (Environmental Protection Authority), your local council etc.

Maybe you can try a muzzle. That should make it be quiet and allow it to be out at the same time and not keep barking the whole time. Simple compromise. If you cant get the neighbors to do it then get the authorities to do it for you. Good luck.

A muzzle doesn't stop (or shouldn't stop) the dog from barking.

Dogs can't sweat, so they pant instead, and need to be able to open their mouths, otherwise they'd overheat and their body would shut down.


Anyway, it's not greenhorn's dog.

Somehow, I don't think a neighbour would appreciate a stranger muzzling their dog, regardless of the circumstances.
