Nero COM/OLE error

I couldn't find useful information when I encountered this message: "an error using COM/OLE occurs please check installation of COM on your computer."

I could not use Nero nor could I copy, paste or cut files from my PC.

After fussing with it unsuccessfully (repeated & varied virus, malware and spyware checks) I finally inserted my Windows 2000 setup disk.

Note: While on a previous occasion it would not let me run the program because, for no apparent reason, "an installation already is in progress."

After several reboots and more scans (nothing detected) I was able to run a repair of W2K from the disk.

While it continued the repair it asked for the Nero disk. It reloaded what it needed from Nero and then immediately resumed the W2K install "configuring COM+".

Everything seems fine now.
