This used to work -but now when I try to tell Nero (5.5.10.56)
to burn I get the regular WIZARD but it only allows me to burn '6X' -and even if I try to burn at *that* speed the CD ejects and I get a nero message that asks me to "Please Insert the Medium to Write" -then my burner ejects the CD.....any idea what could cause this? -As I said it *used*to work. -no changes that I can remember -the clue 'in my eyes' is that it only wants to burn at 6X, 4X, 2x, and 1x: but even if I choose one of those Nero givesd the message "Please Insert the medium to Write To" -No idea what is causing this -do *YOU* have any suggestions?
    Thank You,

What kind of drive is it? And, how long have you had it installed?

    Have you tried cleaning it?

    Can you upgrade your Nero?

Aida32 says this about my burner :
    "Optical Drive = ASUS CRW-1610A (16x/10x/40x CD-RW)"
I've tried reistalling Nero and I've had the hardware working for about a year...it used to work.
I wondered if it might be a SERVICE that I disabled but it used to work even aftr I applied BLKVPRS service changes.... any other ideas?

    (PS---Thanks for the response)

Well, even if you got Burn-proof or Smartlink type of technology supported by the drive and utilized by the burning software most burners do not achieve their stated top speeds anyhow or could cause problem, etc.

Have you tried this process with multiple and good quality CD media to make sure it is not the CD media you are using that is not causing the problem.
The CD media could not support the speeds you are trying or simply a low quality media could give read/write errors very easily...

    Additionally:
Does your drive support and use any buffer controling technology?
Are you trying to burn from another CD drive or HD? And do you encounter the problem either method?
Does your 'Device Manager' see the Drive?
Did the copy of Nero (if OEM version of Nero) you are using come with the drive?
Does your drive fully supported by the version of Nero you are using?

These you might want to look into...
