I bought the LITEON 16X Internal DVD+R/+RW ReWriter and it came with Nero 7 essentials. I installed it to my pc and it said I have 30 day trail of MPEG-2 videos. The video was working but I was not getting sound but when I started it up it would ask me if I wanted a Dolby 2 channel sound, so I downloaded it but it was only a 30 day trail and the sound started working. 30 days later and now it is asking me if I want to buy MPEG-2 Video Decoding Support and if I hit cancel it asks me if I want to buy Dolby AC# 2 Channel Decoding. Which one should I buy or do I have to buy both to get Nero to work? If I buy the MPEG-@ video then I will not have sound right, and if I buy the Dolby AC3 2 Channel then does that mean I will not have a DVD decoder? Is there away that I will only have to buy one program? I feel like Nero is just a big rip off if I have to buy the DVD+R ROM, the DVD decoder, and the sound Decoder.

I don't have answers as to what you should buy; but I ran into a similar situation w/ Nero telling me that whatever it was I was doing (I forget) was only a 30 day trial. I said 'What the f*@#!!!!' I have to PAY, AGAIN?!?! What a big load of :crap I know this isn't any help what-so-ever, but I feel better now... ;)

There are plenty of Free Audio and Video Decoders around.

    This one is popular: http://www.majorgeeks.com/K-Lite_Codec_Pack_Full_d4844.html

There are also plenty of Video players around. You have Windows Media Player already on your system.

The disk that came with the Burner is basicly Advertising for Nero. It's a good program but is extremely bloated with extras. You don't need Nero for your burner to work properly or to watch video files. It's your choice to keep it and use it if you want to.

I was told the same when I tried to use parts of Nero. I immediately found some freeware that did the same job.Whatever you are trying to do with Nero, other software to do it probablycan be found here...

DVDShrink should work with other DVD burning software and I believe the Nero software will not completely expire, just the extras. you should still have the burner software part as it came with the burner you bought. DVDFab will remove copy protection. Try this link and check out the stuff.
