Would there be any reason I should not install the Nero burning software that came with the burner I added to my OLD computer? Somewhere along the way, I think someone told me burning software is tailer made for the burner that it came with, and should not be interchangeable. Just wondering if I was going to create problems on my machine moving forward with installing this on my new computer that already has it's own burner in it. My ultimate objective is to just use the Nero Cover designer as I have created a ton of templates. I may also play with the burner if you say the software should work with the burner on the new computer? Thanks

 

If I read you correctly and it's the same burner then go ahead - shouldn't be any problem at all.

 

I don't believe the reply poster read the question correctly. It is not the same burner it is for one that came with the new computer.

 

The OEM software that came with your DVD burner will only work with that particular brand of burner. It will not work with any othe burner.

Also, I am confused. I think I heard a friend say he bought Nero burning software without a burner. Do they also sell their software that can be used on various burners?

 

In your case, no there is not. You can buy the retail version of Nero version 6 http://www.majorgeeks.com/Nero_Burning_Rom_d633.html or version 7 http://www.majorgeeks.com/Nero_Burning_Rom_7_d2228.html . These are not tied to a specific burner as an OEM install is and will have more features available.
